Jadeveon Clowney Wants to Stay in Seattle

    March 30, 2020

Former No. 1 overall pick Jadaveon Clowney is a free agent and his decision can have one of the biggest impacts in the offseason. Seahawks fans should feel some relief because the 27-year-old pass rusher is interested in returning to the team

According to ESPN’s Michael Silver: “I did have a long talk with him after that game with the Vikings last year,” Silver explained. “He told me how much he loves the culture and how much he loves being in Seattle and how he thinks it taught him how to be a professional in a way that he hadn’t been previously. So I believe, all things being equal, that he would love to stay with the Seahawks, so it’ll be interesting to see, given their cap situation, given his financial parameters, if that can work out again.”

Clowney spent the first five seasons of his career with the Texans and was traded to the Seahawks in August for a third-round pick, former top-10 pick Barkevious Mingo and linebacker Jacob Martin.

The Seahawks wanted help with their struggling pass rush and decided to give Clowney a chance so he could help revitalize their defense.

Clowney’s performance with the Seahawks last season had mixed results. He played in 13 games and mde 11 starts, registering 31 tackles, seven tackles for a loss and just three sacks. He did force four fumbles but he recovered just two of them. The Seattle defense ranked just 26th in the NFL in yards allowed per game, 22nd in points allowed and 31st in total sacks.
