Stefanos Tsitsipas writes a hearfelt post on Instagram after he was forced to withdraw from the ongoing ATP Finals

    November 19, 2021

Stefanos Tsitsipas has assured his fans that he will be returning to the court very soon after he was forced to withdraw from the Nitto ATP Finals due to an arm injury. The Greek tennis star was beaten in straight sets in the opening round by Andrey Rublev. He then decided to withdraw his name from the event before his second game against Casper Ruud.

The 23-year-old shared his disappointment in an Instagram post. He was sad that he had to withdraw from the event under such circumstances and he is looking forward to next year’s ATP finals.

“Not a way I would have expected to end this season. Tough to wrap my head around it. The kind of tournament I was really looking forward on playing all the way this year,” Tsitsipas said.

The Greek youngster is trying to take out the positives from this season and is looking to be in a positive frame of mind. He does not want to keep all the negativities around highlighting how his health is the topmost priority for him.

“I would like to dedicate this to all the beautiful moments I had on court this year. Cheers to all of the hard work, growth, commitment, suffering, belief, acceptance, devotion, audacity, and solace put into 2021. There is no room for negativity, and absolutely no reason to feel any type of regret, sorrow or dismay. My health and well-being is the most important thing, and it will always be.”

Tsitsipas went out on an emotional note for his fans and support staff as he shared his gratitude with them for all the success that he has achieved on court. His last line proves that he is desperate to return to court for the next year as he wrote, “Can’t wait to be back on court roaring and fighting.”

Overall Tsitsipas’ campaign this year was brilliant He reached the semifinals in the Australian Open and won his first ATP 1000 Masters title in Monte Carlo. His biggest achievement however will be to end the year with the no. 4 ranking. Lastly, he also reached the Roland Garros finals and led the match against Djokovic for a considerable amount of time.
