What Novak Djokovic has achieved is incredible – Andy Murray

    June 14, 2023

Veteran Andy Murray has showered praise on Novak Djokovic after the Serb clinched his 23rd Grand Slam title by winning Roland Garros at the Philippe-Chatrier in Paris on Sunday. Djokovic defeated Norway’s Casper Ruud in straight sets in the final of the French Open to write history.

With this win, Djokovic became the most successful male Tennis player of all time in terms of the number of Grand Slam wins. Furthermore, he became the first player to win each of the four Majors on at least three times.

Djokovic has won 10 Australian Opens, seven Wimbledons, and three each of Roland Garros and US Open.

The Serbian has been consistent in the last 15 years and he has always delivered on the court.

On the other hand, Murray bested Jurij Rodionov in straight sets, winning 6-3, 6-2 to claim his second ATP Challenger Tour title of the season.

“I was happy for Novak on Sunday. And what he’s achieved is incredible. And I think when I look back the fact that I was winning my Slams and the Olympics and those events against those players is brilliant, and I’ll be very proud of that,” Andy Murray said.

Meanwhile, Murray revealed that her wife Kim Sears was proud of him as he is grinding it out at the Challenger Level.

“She said, ‘I’m just watching Novak on the news, seeing that he won in Paris and I’m so proud that you’re still grinding it out in Challengers and still working as hard as you know you ever have done.’ That means a lot to me,” Andy Murray said.

Murray admitted he can’t be comparing himself to other people’s success with ag.

“You can’t always be comparing yourself to other people, and people that are more successful than you. I probably learned that more as I got older,” he said.

Murray has been a fighter on the court as he is playing with a metal hip. Both Murray and Djokovic will be seen in the upcoming Wimbledon, which will begin on July 3.
