Former NBA coach Jeff Van Gundy picks Golden State Warriors talisman Stephen Curry as his NBA MVP from this decade

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is someone who has changed the game for the newer generations. It is true that one cannot deny his greatness and success that Curry has achieved with the Warriors. So much so that former NBA coach Jeff Van Gundy feels that Stephen Curry is the MVP of the NBA over the last decade.

Curry guided the Warriors to the title last season as they defeated the Boston Celtics in the finals to lift the coveted trophy. He has been an inspiration for the youngsters and a talisman for the Warriors outfit. Curry every year is getting better and is gradually becoming one of the greatest players to grace the NBA in this generation. This has resulted in the idea of Curry emerging as someone who can climb up the ranks as one of the greatest ever point guards in NBA history.

He was exceptional last season as he enjoyed one of the best postseason performances last time and also bagged the elusive Finals MVP title, something that he did not have in his closet. He also broke the record and became the league’s all time 3-point leader. The accomplishments be it personal or as a team has influenced the recent NBA fans to pay a great deal of respect towards and he is easily considered a modern day great in the league.

On SiriusXM NB ARadio Jeff Van Gundy was asked about the player he would select to build around a playoff series and without much thinking Van Gundy selected Stephen Curry. “I think Steph Curry has been the most valuable player in our sport if you did it by a decade,” Van Gundy said. “I think he’s been phenomenal. I think his game allows other people to also player their very best.”

What he and the warriors managed to accomplish last season was remarkable but this year it has been a different story for the Dubs as they are struggling to find a way with the record of 25-24 in the competitive Western Conference. It has been a struggle for the Warriors in the first half of the season but they will look to pick up pace as the second half of the season approaches.

They have already shown a uprise in their performances with Curry coming back from injury as they have won four out of the last five matches which includes three consecutive wins for them aswell. The Dubs will hope that they can continue this form and rhythm fior the upcoming matches and climb up the ladder in the West.
