Arsenal keen on Chelsea midfielder Jorginho, Blues ready to break the bank for World Cup sensation Enzo Fernandez

Arsenal are on a roll this season in terms of results especially in the Premier League as they are league leaders for now and have shown great dominance this season. Mikel Arteta has also made some shrewd signings recently and are also looking for more options to bolster their ranks. The Gunners are currently looking for a centre midfielder as they are low on that area following injuries to Thomas Partey and Mohammed Elneny. Hence they have shown interest in a couple of players and one among those is Chelsea’s Jorginho reported by The Athletic.

The Gunners clearly feel that the 31-year-old will bring that control to their midfield with his calm demeanor of holding the ball and then spraying it across for the forwards to cash in on. Arsenal are a team who tend to attack relentlessly and for them to have a cushion like Jorginho will be great as he can hold the team together, has good passing abilities and also can jostle for possession with great ability of retaining it. Hence giving no chance to the opposition players to cause the defense any trouble.

Jorginho’s current contract with Chelsea runs out in the summer and hence there is a strong possibility that the Blues may look to cash in on the Italian midfielder rather than letting him leave for free in the next window. The Blues are looking at players like Enzo Fernandez and Declan Rice to strengthen their midfield options and therefore Jorginho’s move away from Stamford Bridge was always on the cards.

The Blues are reportedly in active conversation with Benfica’s midfield maestro, Enzo Fernandez. The young midfielder was sensational for Argentina in Qatar as they eventually won the World Cup. It is reported that Chelsea have increased their bid to £105m after their previous efforts to sign the talented midfielder was turned down by the Portuguese outfit.

Apart from Jorginho, Graham Potter may free up more space to welcome Enzo to the Bridge as midfielder Connor Gallagher is also linked with a move away from the club as Everton are in conversation with the youngster.

Chelsea have had a sensational winter transfer window and it is not over yet as the Blues are showing great desperation to make things right. They have signed players Mykhailo Mudryk, Malo Gusto, Noni Madueke, a loan deal for Joao Felix, a talented centre back in Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos, David Datro Fofana, etc. Overall it has been a great transfer window for the Blues as they have plugged a lot of holes in their current roster.

Whereas Arsenal will be hoping that they manage to sign a new midfielder by the time they play Everton and they are very keen on Jorginho. But it remains to be seen if the Italian dons the Arsenal red this season or not.
