Last season’s championship meant a lot to Warriors talisman Stephen Curry, says Athletic’s Marcus Thompson

Last season was indeed special for Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors as it was Curry’s fourth title and it was even more special for the circumstances with Klay Thopson returning to full fitness and things coming together finally for the Dub Nation to produce a title charge.

The moment the Warriors won, Curry was a totally different person as he broke down in tears and people could see how much this title meant to him. Before Game 6 he was having a fun time on court with his usual dancing and trash talking. But when they won he let his emotions out.

The Athletic’s Marcus Thompson who covered the Warriors exclusively throughout the season knew how much the fourth title meant to him and the Warriors as a whole. Curry also bagged the Finals MVP as he had a sensational outing against the Boston Celtics and came up with three splendid performances in the finals.

Marcus Thompson arrived at “The Cowherd Podcast’ and there he shared his thoughts on the Warriors winning the Championship. He said, “The truth is, and I know him well, that meant a lot to Steph. Like watching him crying on the court, not like a tug tear, that was an ugly cry. It’s not on daddy’s shoulder. You could tell that meant to him.”

Thompson calls out people who have criticized Steph and the Warriors in the past and questions how can a person not have warmth after watching Curry in tears after winning his fourth title. “As someone who watched the journey the whole way, that was like, ‘Hey, yo! This is for real. He totally needs this!’ I don’t know how you don’t have some kind of warmly tingles unless you just hate the Warriors,” he added.

The Warriors defeated the Celtics 4-2 as they wrapped up the Championship in Game 6 at the TD Garden in front of the Celtics fans. But as the celebration started Curry was down on the court in disbelief and when the emotion soaked in, out came the tears of joy. For someone of Curry’s stature he might think that he has to prove nothing to his doubters after what he already achieved but the way the experts and analysts have ridiculed Dub Nation and Curry, they needed to shut them up with answers.

NBA Analyst and former Champion Kendrick Perkins apologized to the Warriors and also to Curry for doubting the team’s capability while others simply remained quiet even after they were proven wrong.
