Arsenal have been very shrewd with their signings this season whether be it signing Gabriel Jesus from Manchester or snapping up 19-year-old Brazilian forward from Sao Paulo. It has been a fruitful transfer window for the Gunners as they are also heading in the right direction with the signing of Oleksandr Zinchenko who will join the North London outfit from Manchester City.
The Ukrainian midfielder who can also double up as a left back is on the verge of sealing a £30million switch to the Emirates. Zinchenko can be a very important player for the Gunners given their weaknesses last season. If he clicks then this can be one of the signings of the season for Mikel Arteta.
However the Spaniard has clearly stated that after missing out on Champions League football last season they are in a difficult position this time out and will have to sign a few more players before the summer transfer window ends in September.
Arteta recently hinted that the Gunners will be signing a couple of more players whom they are targeting. He had an interaction with Sky Sports about Arsenal’s transfer plans, where he shared, “We’ve been trying to [sign players earlier] and we have two recruitments already. Until the end of the market we will keep trying to improve the squad and there are so many parties involved and sometimes things are not as quick as you want.”
Some reports suggest that the Gunners will look to prioritize the signing of Belgium international and Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans after completing all the formalities in the Zinchenko transfer. So we may see a push from the Gunners towards securing the Leicester City midfielder who can actually be a great addition to the team at the heart of the midfield.
The Athletic reported on Monday night that Arsenal are finalising the deal with the Ukrainian midfielder, Zinchenko and reportedly they have offered a four year contract. However before the finalization of the Zinchenko transfer, Arteta remained tight lipped when he was asked about the progress that Arsenal are making in the transfer market with their deals. When quizzed about the progress in the market, Arteta replied, “There is no update with anybody and when there are updates we will let you know. We’re looking at different options in different positions and we’ll give you an update when we have it.”
