Portuguese defender Nelson Semedo has joined Wolves in a deal worth £37m from La Liga giants FC Barcelona.
The 13-Time capped right-back with the Portuguese national team will replace Matt Doherty who moved to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
The 26-year-old made 124 appearances for Barcelona, and he is the third player to be signed by the Wolves side this summer after the arrival of Fabio Silva from Porto and Ki-Jana from Liverpool.
The initial fee paid by Wolves is 30 million euros which could rise to 37 million euros which will make him Wolves record signing beating the 35 million euros paid for teenage Forward Fabio Silva.
The right-back spoke of his respect for coach Nuno Espirito Santo as one of the reasons for moving to the side stating that the Wolves manager has done a good job at the team.
“Last year they did a very good season, and it’s a very important team in England, in also Europe. I hope this year we can do very good things. Coach Nuno is a very good coach. He did very good things here in Wolves, and in other teams too. For sure, I’m going to learn a lot from him.” Semedo was quoted on BBC.
Wolves have been busy in the transfer market, selling Diogo Jota to Liverpool for a fee of more than 40 million pounds. They have also brought in Vitinha from Porto on loan.
The team got to the quarter-finals of the Europa League last season and will not participate this year because of Arsenal’s triumph in the FA Cup final last month.
Wolves have already crashed out of the Carabao Cup after losing to Stoke City last week. In the Premier League, the team has won one and lost the other English Premier League matches they have played this season.
The first was a 2-0 win at the Bramall Lane against Sheffield United and the second being the 3-1 loss to Manchester City last weekend.
