After serving his suspension and leaving the treatment table, Kylian Mbappé is set to make his first Ligue 1 start of the season.
Next on the schedule of the Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain is hosting Montpellier Hérault SC at the Parc des Princes on Saturday night.
Kylian Mbappé is set to make his first start of the season when the champions welcome Montpellier.
With the world cup winner set to return to the field, it is expected that coach Christophe Galtier could deploy a 4-3-3 formation that would suit him. There could also be space for all three in his new-look 3-4-1-2 system.
Mbappé got his suspension during PSG’s 4-0 win over FC Nantes in the season-opening Trophée des Champions. A groin injury ruled him out of last Saturday’s 5-0 thrashing of Clermont Foot 63.
In his absence, Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. have shown their mettle by plundering six goals and four assists between them across the last two games.
While noting that Leo Messi and Neymar have known each other for a long time, Galtier said they have been rediscovering each other since last season.
So, the coach is not surprised by their synergy in the attack. He also lauded Pablo Sarabia for a top performance.
“I’m not surprised they’ve been performing… but we must also salute the performances of Pablo Sarabia, who has been involved in two goals and has been a good replacement.
While describing Mbappe as unforgettable, the coach admitted that he contributes to the team’s past, present, and future.
Mbappé is sure to start and could replace Sarabia in the final third
Meanwhile, Renato Sanches will miss out after suffering a knock. Starting shirt is in not really sure for him because Marco Verratti and Vitinha are likely to be paired in central midfield once again.
