Manchester United are going through some deep rooted problems as the Erik ten Hag era also started with an underwhelming defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion. The Red Devils are desperate to get someone who can bang in the goals and therefore there were rumours about Bologna striker Marko Arnautovic. Although the deal did not materialize according to reports, United still needs someone to lead the lines.
Recently during an interview with the Mirror, former United striker Javier Hernandez more popularly known as Chicharito claimed that he is ready to play for the club for free if they need him. The Mexican striker was a fan favourite at Old Trafford. He played a crucial role during his time as he would often be the super sub for former manager Alex Ferguson. He often came on the field for the last quarter and would help the team by scoring a few late minute goals. He was deadly against Chelsea as he enjoyed scoring goals against the Blues.
Ferguson brought him to Old Trafford when he was a 22-year-old youngster playing for CD Guadalajara for an undisclosed fee. Hernandez went on to score 46 goals and had 10 assists in 131 appearances, out of which only 67 were starts. He then featured for several other teams which included Real Madrid on loan, Bayer Leverkusen,West Ham United and Sevilla. He currently featured for Major League Soccer outfit LA Galaxy.
“If United came for me then I’d say ‘yes, I’ll play for free.’ Of course, you know, I’d do that. But I also want to be very respectful to my club. I am playing very consistently and in my mind my conviction is all about winning a championship with LA Galaxy,” He shared.
Before there were any major controversies in the media, Chicharito immediately shared how he respects his current contract with LA Galaxy and is totally committed to them. “In the future, if things happen then they happen – but in my mind, I am 100 percent with LA,” he added.
Apart from Arnautovic, United are also linked with Juventus centre midfielder Andrien Rabiot as Ten Hag wants someone who can hold the midfield as both Fred and Scott McTominay have been pretty underwhelming over the last few seasons.
