Daniel Barden, Norwich City’s goalkeeper on loan at Bury Town, has signed a new two-year contract with the Canaries after his impressive showings with the isthmian league north division side.
With the new deal, The Welsh under-19 will now be at the Carrow Road side till June 30, 2022. The goalkeeper teamed up with bury during the pre-season.
The goalkeeper is seen as an asset for the non-league club as they aim for promotion despite only spending time at the Canaries’ academy.
Barden has described signing a new deal with the Canaries as brilliant stating that it’s been a good year for him individually.
He also revealed that the loan deal has been massive and has worked out positively with which he has gathered experiences of men’s football.
While speaking on the experience and the difference between academy football and non-league football, the goalkeeper was quoted on Norwich City’s website.
“Going from Academy football was massive. I’ve never played non-league; I’ve always been in the Academy system since I was eight or nine. This is my first taste of playing against 20-30-year-olds, some of which are ex-pros.” Barden told canaries.co.uk
He stated that playing around thirty games this season has been “crazy” for his development.
Norwich has Dutchman Tim Krul, Northern Irish Micheal McGovern and Scottish goalkeeper Archie Mair as the goalkeepers in the main team.
Daniel Farke’s side still has nine games to salvage their season sitting bottom on the log and needing six points to move out of the relegation zone.
However, the league has been put on hold due to the Coronavirus pandemic, and the English FA has rendered the season null and void for football below the three national leagues in England.
Hence there will be no promotion or relegation as results expunged.
